The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course is a great way to learn the basics of pistol shooting from the top firearms training organization in the world!

DMV CARRY’s small class sizes ensure a relaxed environment where student participation is encouraged. This course may be used for you to obtain your Virginia Concealed Carry Permit and Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL).

This is a 6-hour training course with mandatory live-fire range training qualification.

PART-I:  Classroom Training (9:00 am – 2:00 pm)

Objectives:
- Firearm safety
- Firearm safety in the home
- Different types of pistols and which one is best for you
- Basics of ammunition
- Fundamentals of pistol shooting
- Proper gun cleaning and maintenance
- How to maintain your skills
- State firearm laws

Part-II: 1:1 Live-fire range training
*Student will receive a link to schedule range training and qualification for a convenient day and time once registered.

Upon successful completion of this course, student will receive:
1 – NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting, Instructor Led – Completion Certificate

 

This course requires the completion of a shooting qualification course where you must demonstrate the ability to safely fire a handgun.

Range fees and ammunition not included in class cost.

Handguns are available to use for qualification if you do not own one. If you do have your own firearm, you are welcome (and encouraged) to use it. 

PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO LIVE AMMUNITION allowed during the classroom portion of training.

There are no prerequisites for this training.

You must be 21+ and legally able to possess a firearm with valid government photo ID to attend this course.
